Modular conveyors use interlocking plastic belt modules driven positively by sprockets. This positive-drive arrangement provides predictable belt movement through stop-start cycles, variable product loads and environments where conventional friction-driven belts may become more difficult to control.
Modular belt conveyor systems are commonly used for cartons, trays, totes, packaged goods, food products and manufactured components. Depending on the application, the conveyor can incorporate flat-top belts, open-grid surfaces, roller-top modules, flights, sidewalls and side-flexing belt designs.
The modular construction also provides a practical maintenance advantage. Localised damage may often be repaired by replacing individual modules, rods or belt sections instead of replacing an entire conveyor belt. Sprockets, wear strips and guide components can similarly be standardised across multiple conveyor zones.
Properly specified modular conveyors can therefore provide a stable mechanical platform for product transport, accumulation, curves, elevation changes and integration with roller conveyors or downstream automation.
